Wire Mesh Cable Tray: Selection and Ordering Checklist
Choose wire mesh cable tray by cable requirements, load, finish, supports and compatible accessories. A practical checklist for project enquiries.
Wire mesh cable tray supports cables on a welded-wire basket. Its open construction makes cable routing visible and accessible. Selection still depends on the cable requirements, loading and environment.
Compare complete systems
Wire mesh uses a welded-wire base and sides; perforated tray uses formed sheet metal. Compare cable contact, accessories, support requirements and documented performance. Neither construction alone establishes a load rating.
Check before ordering
- Cable quantity, outside diameter, weight and bending requirements.
- Usable width and depth, layout and access for future work.
- The selected model’s load table at the proposed support span.
- Material and finish suitable for the actual environment.
- Compatible joints, supports, bends, dropouts and any required bonding provisions.
Some systems allow field-formed bends under their installation instructions; others use dedicated fittings. Follow the selected system’s method and preserve safe edges, cable support and corrosion protection. Use suitable dropouts where cables leave the basket to avoid an excessively tight bend at an edge.
